Debating the Issues
Funny Book Forensics is a weekly comic book podcast. Dan and Greg take a story from the world of comics, look at the team that made it, and give their honest opinions. Sometimes we bring a friend to help out.
Most episodes cover one story: a single issue, a run, or a graphic novel. We look at the writers and artists who made it, talk through how the story and the art work (or don't), and land on an honest verdict. Some weeks a guest joins the debate.
Our episode numbers start at 247, in honor of the Legion of Super-Heroes' first appearance in Adventure Comics #247.
The hosts
Dan Schabot
Dan is a podcaster, collector, and speaker from the South Puget Sound. For the comic book world, his primary contribution is the Funny Book Forensics podcast.
Dan has developed pop culture classes at three different colleges and loves comics history. In the past he has been a public address announcer, panel host, and emcee for events like the annual Greater Tacoma Peace Prize banquet.
If you are in Tacoma, WA, you will most likely find him walking his dog to Titlow Park to swim in the Sound.
Greg Smith
Greg is a creator, writer, and podcaster from the PNW. He has worked on the Junior Braves of the Apocalypse series with partner Michael Tanner, the Starlite series with partners Travis Webb and Brett Wedele, and Absolute Zeros with Michael Tanner.
In addition to Funny Book Forensics, you can catch him podcasting on Nerds From the Crypt with Saul Perez, talking about horror movies, TV, books, stories, comics, and decorative plates. Greg has also been known to contribute memes and social media posts to his ever-growing fam over at Project Nerd.
When he is not doing all those things, he can be found playing Pokémon or testing video games and dead media for his wife at The Retro Emporium in Kent.
